Latest Galaxy S24 Ultra shows off detailed camera upgrades, 'much
better' titanium than iPhone, and more
December 20, 2023
A new leak reveals more details about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24
Ultra, including a major camera system upgrade, a new titanium construction,
and more.
The camera system is probably the biggest upgrade over the previous
generation. The main sensor will be a 200-megapixel sensor, which will be a
significant increase over the S23 Ultra's 108-megapixel sensor. The
ultra-wide-angle sensor has also been upgraded to a 12-megapixel sensor, and
the telephoto sensor has been upgraded to 100-megapixel and 10-megapixel
sensors.
The new titanium construction should be a big upgrade as well. Titanium is
a stronger and more durable material than aluminum, which is used in the
current generation of Galaxy S phones. Additionally, the titanium
construction is expected to be lighter than its aluminum counterpart, which
should improve the overall feel of the phone.
Among the speculated upgrades are a purported 6.8-inch AMOLED screen
boasting a 120Hz refresh rate, an alleged Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and
a rumored 5,000mAh battery capacity.
Anticipated to hit the market in the beginning of 2024, the Galaxy S24
Ultra is poised for its much-awaited release.
Take a closer examination of the speculated enhancements to the
camera.
The primary sensor of the upcoming device is anticipated to boast an
impressive resolution of 200 megapixels, accompanied by larger pixels
measuring 1.2 microns. This represents a substantial upgrade from the S23
Ultra's 108-megapixel sensor, which had smaller 0.8-micron pixels. The
enhanced pixel size is projected to greatly enhance the device's
performance in low-light conditions.
Anticipated to possess a 12-megapixel sensor and a pixel size of 1.4
microns, the ultrawide sensor is set to surpass the S23 Ultra's
12-megapixel sensor with a pixel size of 1.2 microns. This enhancement in
pixel size is projected to enhance the quality of images captured in
low-light environments.
The telephoto sensors are set to receive enhancements with the
introduction of 100-megapixel and 10-megapixel sensors. The
100-megapixel sensor will be dedicated to achieving a 3x optical zoom
capability, while the 10-megapixel sensor will enable a 10x optical zoom
functionality.
Anticipated to surpass the existing aluminum construction, the
forthcoming titanium build is projected to offer substantial
enhancements. With its superior strength and durability, titanium has
the potential to enhance the phone's resistance against scratches and
accidental drops. Additionally, the lighter weight of titanium compared
to aluminum may contribute to an enhanced overall tactile
experience.
With its rumored features such as a titanium construction and an
upgraded camera system, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is poised to be a
substantial improvement from its predecessor. These enhancements could
potentially position it as the leading Android phone available.
